The Central Iowa D-League (CIDL) is an adult draft league with an annual evaluation for each player's skill level to ensure that teams are evenly balanced and players may focus on a fun, enjoyable, and safe hockey season! The ages of players in the CIDL range from 18 to over 70. Our 2022-23 Season consists of the evaluation, 2 practices, 18 games and 2 playoff games to determine a champion at each level.

League Format

All players must be age 18+ and participate in a combine to determine their skill level and are assigned to one of three potential Divisions: D1 (High D), D2 (Low D) or D3 (Novice) levels. If you feel as though you may be higher level, please "Contact Us" at our email address below. League Format may vary based on registrations.

After the combine, we hold our annual Draft where team captains select from the pool of players for their Division. After that - WE PLAY HOCKEY!

We play Sundays at Buccaneer Arena in Urbandale, Iowa - with most games starting at 9:30 AM and running through 4:45 PM. (There may be exceptions to this schedule depending on other events at the arena.)

Registration Fees

  • Skaters: $415 + USA Hockey Registration
  • Goalies: $30 + USA Hockey Registration

We are dedicated to providing a great experience on and off the ice, including a value-added experience with special events and individual weekly team and player stats to keep a fun, competitive, experience.

Novice Division Mission Statement

The CIDL Novice Division provides a unique hockey experience for adults new to the sport of hockey. Through a fusion of team coaching, on-ice practice time, and games, players will be taught the fundamentals of hockey. The emphasis is on low-key competition in a friendly environment, where every person has an equal opportunity to play.

Intermediate Division Mission Statement

The CIDL Intermediate Division provides a fun, competitive atmosphere for adults with previous hockey experience. There is a component of the schedule dedicated to practice, but the main emphasis is on games. The primary goal of the Intermediate Division is to promote friendly competition, improve hockey skills, and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow players.
